General Cleaning:
1) Vacuum regularly to help prevent soil and dirt from becoming embedded in carpet fibers
2) High-traffic areas should be vacuumed three times a week or even daily depending on use. Low-traffic areas should be vacuumed once or twice a week
Cleaning Spills/Stains:
1) Clean spills immediately by blotting (not rubbing) the stain
2) If the spill has a solid material, use a dull knife or spoon to remove as much as possible
3) Add water and use a blotting action to pull up the stain
4) Vacuum using the highest suction setting
5) Only use spot removers that are approved by the Carpet and Rug Institute of America. If using carpet cleaning products, test on a small area in the corner of the room first
We recommend using a professional cleaning service whenever possible
Maintenance - Have your carpet cleaned professionally every 12-18 months, preferably with the hot water extraction or steam cleaning method
Other Tips:
1) Over time you may find snags in the carpet. Clip, don’t pull, these snags with a sharp pair of scissors
2) If you have a pet, vacuum frequently to pull up pet hair
-
General Cleaning:
1) Vacuum or sweep regularly to remove dust or debris that can scratch or dull the surface. Heavily used areas should be cleaned every week
2) If something spills on the floor, wipe it up as quickly as possible, then clean and dry the area
3) When mopping floors, make sure the mop is damp and not wet, and avoid leaving any standing water on the floor. Rinse the mop as needed
4) Don’t use vinegar or harsh detergents as they will dull the finish
Maintenance - Have your floor professionally refinished every 3-5 years. This will require a deep clean of the floors, followed by buffing and then the application of a new coat
Fixing Scratches - Use a stain marker or a wax stick that matches your floor colour
Other Tips:
1) At each entrance, place a door mat to keep dirt off your floors
2) Furniture can leave scratches on your floor. Either use an area rug as a barrier, or furniture pads on all legs of the furniture
3) Wood floors love high humidity, although in our cold winters, too much humidity will cause issues to the rest of the home. Use a humidifier to keep the home relatively humid without water droplets forming on your windows. This is typically around 25% in the winter

Fixing Scratches - Sand the vinyl gently in the direction of the scratch using a light sandpaper. Clean thoroughly then use a wax stick if necessary that matches your floor colour. After spreading the wax, buff the area to ensure a smooth finish

This includes Polypropylene, Olefin, Polyolefin, Polyester, Acrylic, Poly Acrylic, Nylon, Viscose, and Tencel
General Cleaning:
1) Vacuum regularly without a beater bar, being mindful of the edges
2) For most, blot at stains with a clean cloth and cold water mixed with a small amount of dish soap
3) For Viscose and Tencel, never clean with water or any other liquid

This includes Wool, Jute, Seagrass, and Sisal
General Cleaning:
1) Vacuum regularly without a beater bar, being mindful of the edges. If the rug is high-pile, you will need to shake it out instead
2) When spot cleaning, blot the area with warm, not hot, water, ensuring to not overwet the material. Acidic stains can be neutralized with club soda. Once the stain is removed, be sure the rug dries completely to avoid mould
Wool Rugs - Once a year the rug should be professionally cleaned by shampooing with a product made for wool rugs
Jute Rugs - These rugs may discolour if they get too wet, so you may opt for a cleaning solution from a dry-cleaning kit. Follow all manufacturer instructions, and ensure to test in a small area first
Seagrass and Sisal Rugs - The corners may curl over time. To cure this, dampen the curled area by placing a damp towel over the area and weight it down evenly overnight
